Separated from the Costa Rican mainland by the Golf of Nicoya, the Nicoya Peninsula boasts tropical, dry forest, spectacular beaches, translucent blue water and plentiful wildlife. Curu National Wildlife Refuge on the east coast of the peninsula is home to White-faced Capuchin, and Howler monkeys, Coati, Iguanas, Scarlet Macaws and hundreds of other species. Offshore islands, sandy beaches and placid estuaries offer a variety of paddling experiences.

Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf) is “one of the most biologically intense places on earth” according to National Geographic and described as the most pristine tropical fjord in the world, by Jacques Cousteau. Embraced by the Osa Peninsula and the southern Costa Rican Pacific coast, it is surrounded by Corcovado and Piedras Blanca’s National Parks and the Golfito National Wildlife Refuge.
Hammerhead sharks, Humpback Whales, and many other marine species inhabit these calm, crystalline waters. Healthy coral reef, mangrove estuaries and rainforest support an incredible diversity of wildlife. It is a nature enthusiast’s paradise.

Tortuguero National Park, on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast, encompasses rainforest, wetlands, canals and coastal beaches. Its 77,000 acres include an ocean preserve and beaches, that are critical nesting habitat for the endangered Green Sea Turtle. The park represents one of the best examples of rainforest in Central America. 400 bird species and 16 endangered mammal species including Manatee, Jaguar and Tapir are found within park boundaries.
